The Power Of Together - Ben Johnson | First Assembly Church
Description
This past Sunday, Lead Pastor Ben Johnson preached a message entitled "The Power of Together." Pastor Ben reminded us of Ecclesiastes 4:9 — two are better than one — calling us to walk in unity as families, in vision, and in giving. Through the example of Exodus 35, we were shown how the people gave willingly — bringing offerings, skills, and craftsmanship to the Lord’s work. We were encouraged to respond to God not only with obedience, but with our whole hearts, gifts, and talents. This message invites us to move from being consumers to contributors and champions, recognizing that God builds His church as we come together — willing, obedient and generous.
✍️ Notes
Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. Ecclesiastes 4:9 (GNT)
GOD IS CALLING US TOGETHER:
⭑ Together as Families
⭑ Together in Vision
⭑ Together in Giving
21 All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle, for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments. 22 Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. They brought to the Lord their offerings of gold—brooches, earrings, rings from their fingers, and necklaces. They presented gold objects of every kind as a special offering to the Lord. Exodus 35:21 -22 (NLT)
WE GIVE OUR OBEDIENCE:
Then Moses said to the whole community of Israel, “This is what the Lord has commanded…” (35:4)
“This is the thing which the Lord commanded"
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. Psalm 19:7-10 (NIV)
WE GIVE OUR HEARTS:
“All whose hearts were willing. They brought to the Lord their offerings (35:22 )
WE GIVE OUR GIFTS & TALENTS:
35 The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers. Exodus 35:35 (NLT)
6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)
6-7 So Moses sent out orders through the camp: “Men! Women! No more offerings for the building of the Sanctuary!” The people were ordered to stop bringing offerings! There was plenty of material for all the work to be done. Enough and more than enough. Exodus 36:6-7 (MSG)
